Day 57 – Rest day in Bismarck, ND

It’s been a fantastic stay with Ronnie and Bella. They have such a nice home & provided us with such beautiful, comfortable accommodations and wonderful meals. Ronnie drove us around town on various errands & took us to a neat Irish restaurant for lunch. Ronnie & I split a Shepherd’s pie and then we all shared bread pudding with a Jameson caramel sauce. Yum! This was a rest day that was very restful & very fun! Jim had a ball playing with Kari’s son, Spencer – Legos, trains, going to the playground, etc. He’s going to be a fun grandpa! ๐Ÿ™‚

We were supposed to have new tires arriving today at Ronnie’s, but evidently a mechanical problem at UPS has delayed our priority shipment for another 3 days! We checked the bike shops in town but no luck. We’ll head out tomorrow and Ronnie will forward them along to a town we’ll be riding thru at the end of the week. It’s not a big deal because we’re fine and we have a spare, but it would have been easier to pump up the tires while we are on an off day (and Ronnie has a compressor ๐Ÿ™‚ ).

We finished the day with a Lasagna dinner, Bella’s fantastic snacks and reminiscing over old family photos. It was a fun day and a much needed rest day! Thank you so much Ronnie, Bella, Kari and Spencer!
